Configuring Live Writer for Wordpress.org

Windows Live Writer is a favorite desktop blog tool that supports many blog engines including most popular wordpress.org. In this post I will configure Live Writer for my blog that is you are probably reading.
Step 1: Download Live writer if you are not already do so.
Step 2: Install the writer via Live installer. If you are using Windows XP professional with service pack 2, you may face error that showing “Windows Installer is out dated.” That means you have to update windows installer. How? Check this.
Step 3: After successful installation, I open writer from Program Files > Windows Live > Windows live writer. The wizard told me to configure writer for my blog. This is obviously one time configuration.

Step 4: I clicked Next and the writer asked me for blog service. I am going to choose Other blog service for my wordpress blog and clicked next.

Step 5: The next screen I entered my full blog URL, username and password.

Step 6: After clicking Next, writer communicate with my blog URL.

Step 7: Oops! I got an error. Writer told me that XML-RPC is not enabled in my blog settings.

Step 8: So I logged in my wordpress admin panel leaving the writer wizard in error state using Firefox (I love it!) and enabled XML-RPC checkbox under Settings > Writings option.

Step 9: After enable XML-RPC, I clicked the error msg ok and continue to Next. Then writer again tried to communicate with my blog and downloaded all the current theme files to my Local PC. This is really interesting. In writer, when writing new post, you will get flavor of your blog theme. The other thing is Image processing. You can insert Image, crop, resize from your local drive. Anyway, Writer then complete the configure process.

Step 10: Wow! I am ready to use writer!
